Best Par 5’s

Here’s a collection of my favorite 18 par 5’s I’ve seen of the 173 total courses I’ve played. I’ve limited each course to 1 entry, although you could argue some deserve more than one, but for variety I left it at one.

Tower Ranch Golf & Country Club — hole 17, 563 yards

The 17th at Tower Ranch bends left, then back right at one of the higher parts of the property, with views of Kelowna and the Okanagan Lake to the left

The Rawls Course at Texas Tech — hole 17, 630 yards

Navigating through the bunkering at the 17th at The Rawls Course at Texas Tech is an accomplishment in itself

The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course — hole 10, 492 yards

Unfortunately I don’t have a photo of the 10th at JPL, so enjoy this flyover video courtesy of playgolfalberta.

Pasatiempo Golf Club — hole 13, 531 yards

Bunkering short is awaiting those who try to get home in two

The Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Club — hole 9, 501 yards

The par 5, 9th, aptly titled “jinx,” is severely tilted to the right towards the Bow River, which is in play all down the right

Gamble Sands Golf Resort & Lodge (Sands) — hole 3, 633 yards

The blind tee shot at the 3rd at Gamble Sands looks difficult, but the player is greeted with a wide fairway

Desert Forest Golf Club — hole 7, 551 yards

Over a desert wash, the 7th at Desert Forest features an undulated green complex, freshly renovated bunkering, two fairways and more

We-Ko-Pa Golf Club (Saguaro) — hole 4, 631 yards

The rolling terrain at the 3rd at Saguaro is a rarity in the desert

Blackhawk Golf Club — hole 11, 596 yards

The downhill par 5, 11th at Rod Whitman’s Blackhawk Golf Club is among Canada’s best par 5’s

Apache Stronghold Golf Resort & Casino — hole 15, 614 yards

Sagebrush Golf & Sporting Club — hole 14, 584 yards

Playing down, back up and to the left, the 14th at Sagebrush has it all

Greywolf Golf Course — hole 14, 527 yards

IMG_3254.jpg
A short par 5 with some fantastic bunkering, Doug Carrick did a good job of tempting those to try and get home

Wolf Creek Links — hole 11, 553 yards

IMG_0891.jpg
“Hell’s Full Acre” as the hole is named describes the bunkering all down the right side for the tee shot, and helps make the tee shot semi-blind.

Talking Stick Golf Resort (O’Odham) — hole 2, 552 yards

While it may not look like much, the OB fence to the left may be the best use of out of bounds in golf

Kelowna Golf & Country Club — hole 6, 524 yards

Dilworth Mountain guards the left side of the reachable par 5, 6th at Kelowna Golf & Country Club

Rock Creek Cattle Company – Hole 10, 631 yards

The rolling topography at Tom Doak’s 631 par 5, 10th at Rock Creek Cattle Company makes for a spectacular par 5

Streamsong Resort (Red) — hole 7, 527 yards

IMG_1892.jpg
One of my favorite holes I’ve ever played, the par 5, 7th is a spectacular par 5

Bandon Trails — hole 16, 530 yards
